It's hard to believe but Summer is almost here. It's time to start thinking about how you are going to keep your kids learning this summer. Children who do not read during the summer lose up to 30% of the skills they learned in school the previous year. So, to help parents out each year Classic Children's Books promotes and hosts a HUGE event called the Middle Grade Summer Book Club.

Classic Children's Books is dedicated to encouraging strong family relationships through reading together. I encourage parents to read to their children - even through elementary school and into Jr High if your kids will let you. Read High Quality Books - what do I mean by High Quality? 

- When books are read to children - language development and auditory discrimination are stimulated. They continue long into the Jr High level and I would dare to say into Senior High. It is so important that your children are reading books that insist and contain strong language skills that are descriptive, explanatory and not just conversational. These skills don't stop in Kindergarten when children are beginning to read & that's why it's
so important that you DON'T stop reading to your children just because they
are supposed to be learning to read.
